Banza Launches Rice Innovation, Jumping Into Brand New Category

NEW YORK, Feb. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Banza, the company known for making chickpea pasta, announced the creation of a new product: Chickpea Rice. Utilizing the same bold energy that catapulted Banza to become the fastest growing pasta company in the U.S., this product innovation will allow Banza to further its mission of making nutritious food more accessible—by offering healthier versions of comfort foods that people already know and love. With three times the protein, double the fiber, and 30 percent fewer net carbs than brown rice, Banza’s rice is a delicious, high-protein, high-fiber, reduced-carb alternative to rice, quinoa, and other grains. With three times the protein, double the fiber, and 30 percent fewer net carbs than brown rice, Banza's rice is a delicious, high-protein, high-fiber, reduced-carb alternative to rice, quinoa, and other grains. Naturally gluten-free, Banza's rice is tasty, quick and easy, and is a shelf-stable, satiating base or side for any meal. Banza's rice is available in two varieties: Chickpea and Tricolor Legume (a mix of chickpea, red lentil, and green pea rice). Banza, which is the fastest selling pasta brand at Whole Foods Market, is now launching its new rice in the rice and grains aisle of Whole Foods locations nationwide.   "Similar to what we did in pasta, we're excited to upgrade an equally popular staple food," said Brian Rudolph, co-founder and CEO of Banza. "We're so grateful for Whole Foods' partnership in helping us bring a more nutritious rice to more people." Since launching nearly five years ago, Banza has become the fastest selling pasta brand in the U.S. within the top 50 pasta brands, and is currently sold in more than 11,000 stores. Banza now has 17 total SKUs, including two new seasonal mac and cheese varieties that launched in late 2018, Shells & White Cheddar and Cacio e Pepe. Expanding once again with the latest category-disrupting innovation is only furthering the company's goal of making the foods you love, love you back. Banza's first product was pasta made from chickpeas—with double the protein, four times the fiber and 40 percent fewer net carbs than traditional pasta. Seeking a healthier version of his favorite food, Brian started making chickpea pasta by hand in his kitchen. Since its launch, Banza pasta has gained recognition as one of TIME's 25 Best Inventions of 2015, and expanded to more than 11,000 stores nationwide. Banza entered the rice category in 2019 with a better-for-you Chickpea and Tricolor Legume Rice. For more information about Banza, please visit eatbanza.com. SOURCE Banza

Kristen Bell's Favorite Pasta Is About To Become Your Go-To

Kristen Bell is not very good at hiding her feelings. If her infamous sloth video taught us anything, it's that. So it doesn't come as much of a surprise that when she discovered a new favorite pasta - Banza's chickpea-based noodles - she didn't keep it to herself. She wrote the company a heartfelt note about their product. BUY NOW: Banza Chickpea Pasta Variety Pack, $22 for 6 boxes; amazon.com Bell's a staunch vegetarian, and Banza is packed with protein, a nutrient that non-meat eaters often lack. When Delish caught up with the actress at a charity event last fall, Bell even mentioned that she and husband Dax Shepard eat some sort of Banza dish for dinner most nights. She sent a letter to the brand with the intention of simply sharing that. "I just wanted to say, 'Great job, I love your pasta. It's delicious,'" Bell shared on an Instagram video. Photo credit: Facebook.com/Banza Banza couldn't just take the thank you without acknowledging it. They sent Bell a completely customized box. Where the company's logo and the noodle variety usually is, it read Kristen Bell Our Favorite Actress. And instead of listing the traditional nutrition values and ingredients, the box listed Bell's qualities: charm, humor, range. Banza calls her out for being a trained soprano, funny AF (their exact words), a hockey fanatic, an animal lover, a voice of equality, and for having geek power. Photo credit: Facebook.com/Banza Bell doesn't have a sloth-level breakdown in her video, but she's clearly touched, calling the special box her favorite gift ever. She's far from the only mega-fan, though: Banza has worked its way into most mainstream markets, as gluten-free noodles have soared in popularity. The company's up to 11 standard shapes - angel hair, spaghetti, linguine, rigatoni, cavatappi, rotini, penne, ziti, wheels, elbows, and shells - each packed with 25 grams of protein per serving, compared to about three in traditional pasta. Banza makes a variety of boxed mac and cheese, too. According to them, it has two times the protein, eight times the fiber, and fewer net carbs than what you'll normally find on grocery shelves. BUY NOW: Banza Chickpea Pasta Mac & Cheese Variety Pack, $22 for 6 boxes; amazon.com You can find Banza in a grocery store near you using their site's store locator, or shop the full line on Amazon.
